What Type of Shower is Right for Your Home?

Choosing a new type of shower during your bathroom remodel is a decision that can seem daunting at the start with so many options and considerations to research. The shower is a main component of not only your new bathroom’s everyday functionality, but also serves as a large part of the space’s aesthetic.

Signature Kitchen & Bath can help guide you in making the best decision for your home and family. Through our custom design process and the valued relationship between client and designer, we can help make this process as enjoyable as it should be. Below are a few tips we commonly use to assist our St. Louis clients in selecting the best shower for their new space:

Make the Most Out of Your Space

The first key component of deciding what type of shower is best for you, is to move everything out of the current bathroom space. This will help you determine the most accurate amount of space you have to work with in terms of picking a standing shower stall, bathtub and shower combination, walk in shower, corner shower, or other custom option. If your bathroom is smaller, do not be discouraged into thinking that you are completely limited. Designing a standing shower with nice tile or glass will still allow a sleek yet functional update. If your bathroom is larger, your remodel can certainly include extending your shower space without overspending your budget.

Consider Your Family

The most important factor in determining what type of shower to install is your family. Take into account whether or not your family takes mostly showers, baths, or a combination of both. Do you have a master bath and a kid’s bath? Is this your home’s only full bathroom?

With small children, it is important to consider safety and the use of a standard tub. If your family has no children or older children, the standard tub may no longer be necessary. If space is available, there is the option to separate a bathtub from a walk-in shower or standing stall shower. With our design team, the possibilities are endless for families of all sizes.
